Privacy‑first Lumo chatbot gets major boost with image generation and faster responses

Proton has released Lumo 2.0, a major upgrade to its privacy‑focused AI chatbot, adding image recognition, image generation, and image editing. Users can now upload photos for analysis or modification, and the chatbot can also create images from prompts. Lumo’s Projects feature gains persistent user‑controlled memory, allowing the chatbot to remember preferences across sessions. Proton says Lumo 2.0 responds up to 76 percent faster and includes a new thinking mode for more complex reasoning. The company emphasizes its zero‑access encryption, meaning conversations and images are stored only on the user’s device and never used for AI training. Lumo 2.0 is available now with free and paid tiers offering expanded capabilities.
