Microsoft has quietly extended Windows 10’s Extended Security Updates (ESU) program by one more year, allowing users to receive security patches until October 12, 2027. The extension is free for anyone who signs in with a Microsoft account, while others can enroll using 1,000 Microsoft Reward points or by paying 30 dollars. The ESU program is essential for keeping Windows 10 devices secure, especially with hundreds of millions of PCs still running the OS. Microsoft likely made the decision due to the ongoing RAM crisis, which has driven up new PC prices and made upgrading to Windows 11 hardware less feasible. Users already enrolled in ESU will automatically continue receiving updates without taking any action.
