The Supreme Court doesn't care if you want to copyright your AI-generated art

The US Supreme Court declined to hear a case challenging the denial of copyright protection for AI-generated artwork, allowing a lower court ruling to stand. The case involved computer scientist Stephen Thaler, who sought copyright for an image created entirely by his AI system. The US Copyright Office rejected the application on the basis that the work lacked human authorship, and multiple courts upheld that decision. With the Supreme Court’s refusal to intervene, AI-generated works without human creators remain ineligible for copyright protection in the US.
