Samsung Foundry surges as TSMC struggles to keep up with demand

Samsung Foundry is gaining momentum as TSMC struggles to meet soaring demand for advanced semiconductor nodes, prompting major clients like Nvidia, Tesla, Qualcomm, AMD, and Google to shift part of their orders to Samsung. According to Nikkei Asia, Samsung is securing or negotiating contracts for sub‑5nm chips, including Google’s upcoming TPUs and Axion AI accelerators, as well as AMD’s future Epyc CPUs on Samsung’s second‑generation 2nm process. TSMC’s most advanced capacity is largely pre‑booked by Apple and Nvidia, pushing other companies to diversify suppliers amid global uncertainty. Tesla’s next‑generation A16 chip will reportedly be manufactured exclusively by Samsung in Texas, while Neuralink and Groq have also chosen Samsung for their next chips. Chinese EV giant BYD is in advanced talks with Samsung to produce autonomous driving SoCs for future vehicles.
