Quantum internet materializes in Germany due to a 30-kilometer breakthrough

Researchers in Germany successfully demonstrated quantum teleportation over a 30-kilometer loop of commercial fiber in Berlin while regular internet traffic was running on the same line. Using Qunnect’s Carina platform, the system maintained stable quantum states despite real-world conditions like vibrations and temperature changes, achieving about 95% fidelity. The experiment shows that existing telecom infrastructure could support future quantum internet networks without needing entirely new cables. Such networks could enable ultra-secure communication through quantum cryptography and connect distributed quantum computers.
