A new leak suggests OpenAI is testing a dedicated subscription tier called ChatGPT for Science, aimed at scientific research and institutional users. References to the service were found in the web version of ChatGPT, hinting that it may function similarly to ChatGPT Teams or Enterprise, with access restricted to verified organizations. The move follows OpenAI’s recent launch of GPT‑Rosalind, a highly specialized model for life sciences built on GPT‑5.5 and available only through a tightly controlled access system. ChatGPT for Science may bring some of these advanced research capabilities to a broader range of universities and scientific institutions. The subscription is expected to offer deeper grounding in scientific literature and research workflows compared to standard ChatGPT plans. While there is no launch date yet, the feature is already being tested and an official announcement may be only weeks away.
