OpenAI Buys Ona to Let Codex Run Inside Enterprise Clouds
OpenAI has acquired Ona, formerly known as Gitpod, a German cloud platform that lets AI agents run inside a customer's own infrastructure rather than on OpenAI's servers. The deal folds Ona's technology into Codex, OpenAI's coding agent, which now reaches over 5 million weekly users after a 400 percent increase since early 2026.
