Google Is Finally Killing Ad Blockers in Chrome
Google Chrome 150 will block the installation of ad blocker extensions, including the full version of uBlock Origin, as part of a change to how Chrome handles browser extensions under the hood. The new rules strip ad blockers of a key filtering capability, forcing developers to choose between staying in the Chrome Web Store and staying effective. uBlock Origin's creator Raymond Hill has built a compliant alternative called uBlock Origin Lite but warns it is too different from the original to serve as a direct replacement. Firefox will continue supporting the old rules, making it the most straightforward escape route for users who want to keep their ad blockers working.
