New YouTube System Flags AI‑Generated Footage Even If Creators Don’t Declare It

YouTube will begin automatically detecting and labeling videos that contain photorealistic AI‑generated or AI‑altered content. If creators fail to disclose AI use, YouTube’s systems will scan the video and apply an AI label, which will appear prominently under the player or as an overlay on Shorts. Labels cannot be removed if YouTube detects Google AI tools or C2PA watermarks. The platform says the change aims to increase transparency as users grow more concerned about AI‑generated misinformation and unwanted AI content.
