Microsoft, Nvidia and AWS Join Pentagon After Anthropic Refusal
Several major tech companies, including Microsoft, Nvidia, AWS, and Reflection AI, have agreed to let the U.S. Department of Defense use their AI systems for classified military operations, following Anthropic’s earlier refusal to do so. These new agreements expand the Pentagon’s AI partnerships to seven companies, despite growing concerns about AI’s role in surveillance and autonomous weapons. Anthropic remains in conflict with the DoD over broad usage rights, even as its advanced model Mythos is reportedly being tested by the NSA. Meanwhile, companies like Google and OpenAI are attempting to balance employee concerns with government demands by adding safety restrictions to their agreements.
