Intel Revives 10th-14th Gen CPUs as DDR5 Prices Skyrocket
Intel is reportedly planning to restart production of several older desktop CPU generations, including 13th and 14th Gen, due to rising DDR5 memory prices that make newer platforms harder to justify. Motherboard makers are also increasing DDR4 board production through 2026 and 2027, giving budget builders more affordable options. The move could revive cheap PC builds by pairing low cost DDR4 memory with older Intel chips that still offer solid performance. Intel is even preparing a new DDR4 friendly generation called Raptor Lake Next for 2027, extending the LGA 1700 ecosystem. These CPUs target gamers and builders who want to avoid inflated DDR5 and motherboard prices rather than chase the newest architectures.
