Bitcoin mining firm transforms into AI powerhouse after signing new long term deal with Anthropic
The bitcoin mining company TeraWulf has signed a massive 20-year lease agreement with AI startup Anthropic for a new infrastructure campus in Kentucky. This deal is expected to bring in 19 billion dollars in revenue over its duration as Anthropic utilizes 401 megawatts of critical IT load. Much of the crypto mining industry is currently pivoting toward AI infrastructure due to falling bitcoin prices and intense network competition. While converting mining sites into AI data centers requires significant changes, miners already control essential assets like large electricity supplies and grid connections. This shift highlights a growing trend where data center infrastructure providers prioritize high-performance computing over legacy crypto mining.
