Apple removes old Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps from Mac App Store

Apple has removed the older standalone versions of Pages, Numbers, and Keynote from the Mac App Store, leaving only the new Creator Studio–compatible editions. These updated apps remain free but now prompt users to subscribe to Creator Studio for extra templates and AI‑powered features. Users who previously downloaded the old versions can still access them through their purchase history, though they will no longer receive updates. The move signals Apple’s shift toward a subscription‑centric productivity ecosystem while keeping basic functionality free.

Editor’s note: God is my witness that I’m not a big Microsoft fan, but if they had made a move like this, the backlash would have been biblical. Apple, on the other hand, is getting a much softer reaction despite the significance of the change. Still, Creator Studio is priced very well and genuinely offers strong value, which partly explains why users are accepting the new model more calmly.
