Anthropic Set for First Profitable Quarter With $10.9B in Revenue

Anthropic is reportedly on track to post $10.9 billion in revenue for the quarter ending in June, more than double its previous quarter, and expects around $559 million in operating profit — its first profitable quarter since the company was founded in 2021. Despite this milestone, Anthropic does not expect to remain profitable in the coming quarters as it plans to increase spending on compute and infrastructure. The company has gained momentum recently, with its Claude chatbot rising in popularity and attracting enterprise customers, even as it faces political and regulatory challenges after refusing a Pentagon request to remove AI safety guardrails. Meanwhile, OpenAI still hasn’t reached profitability and doesn’t expect to until 2029 or 2030, with both companies reportedly preparing for IPOs later this year.
