Android 17 begins rolling out to Pixels with new multitasking and privacy upgrades
Google has officially started rolling out Android 17 alongside a new Pixel Drop and Wear OS 7 for Pixel phones and watches.
The updated operating system introduces an expanded multitasking Bubbles system, allowing users to turn any app into a floating window. Security and privacy see notable improvements, featuring temporary location access, restricted contact sharing, and biometrically locked lost-phone protections.
Additionally, the Pixel Drop integrates Gemini Omni for video generation and Lyria 3 for music creation on device.
Wear OS 7 introduces dynamic, self-updating notifications for real-time tracking alongside an estimated 10% battery life boost for Pixel Watches.
