Valve’s $1,049 Steam Machine launches June 29 with a lottery style reservation system

Valve confirmed that the Steam Machine will ship on June 29 with a starting price of $1,049, reflecting the severe RAM and storage shortages caused by the global AI boom. The device comes in two versions, 512GB and 2TB, both powered by a custom AMD Zen 4 CPU and an RDNA3 GPU with 8GB of dedicated VRAM, plus 16GB of DDR5 system memory. Due to limited component availability, Valve is using a randomized reservation system, meaning most buyers won’t be able to purchase one immediately. Reservations close on June 25, after which Valve will randomize the queue and notify customers whether they’re in the first batch or placed on a waitlist. Even those selected may face delays, as Valve will ship units gradually as components arrive.
