Spotify says AI slop is flooding your music feed, adds artist control tool

Spotify says AI‑generated “slop” is increasingly flooding the platform, with mislabeled tracks and spam uploads hijacking artist profiles. To counter this, the company is testing a new feature called Artist Profile Protection, which lets artists approve or reject releases before they appear on their page. The system adds a missing checkpoint to prevent fake or misattributed songs from polluting profiles and diverting royalties. The move comes amid rising AI‑driven fraud, including a recent US case where synthetic tracks and bot streams generated millions in illegitimate payouts. The tool is currently in limited beta and optional, but Spotify says it plans to refine and expand it.
