SK Hynix becomes Korea’s most valuable company, ending Samsung’s 26 year dominance

For the first time in over 25 years, SK Hynix has overtaken Samsung Electronics in common stock market capitalization to become South Korea's most valuable listed company. This historic corporate shift on the Korea Exchange is entirely driven by the ongoing global artificial intelligence infrastructure boom. SK Hynix has established a dominant market position as the primary supplier of high bandwidth memory chips for Nvidia's heavily demanded AI accelerators. While Samsung is working to qualify its own competitive components for next generation orders, it has temporarily lost its multi decade crown in common stock value. Together, these two semiconductor giants now make up nearly half of the entire value of the KOSPI index, showcasing a massive sector concentration.
