Microsoft, Google, and AWS have all confirmed that Anthropic's Claude will remain available to their customers for non-defense work, despite the Pentagon's supply-chain risk designation. Microsoft's lawyers concluded that Claude can stay in M365, GitHub, and AI Foundry; Google confirmed availability through Google Cloud; and AWS reportedly told customers the same. The designation only applies to direct Department of War contract work — not to the broader enterprise market. It's the clearest signal yet that the Pentagon's move, while dramatic, is narrower than the initial headlines suggested, and that the big cloud providers aren't walking away from Anthropic.
