Meta’s Muse Spark 1.3 aims to challenge OpenAI and Anthropic
Meta has launched Muse Spark 1.3, its most advanced AI model designed to compete directly with OpenAI and Anthropic. The update delivers major improvements in coding performance and agentic task execution, allowing the model to handle complex workflows more efficiently. Meta says the model now uses 25 percent fewer tokens, manages multiple workflows at once, and maintains context better during long instructions. The company claims Muse Spark 1.3 outperforms OpenAI’s GPT 5.6 Sol in coding benchmarks, though upcoming models like Astra may shift the competitive balance. The update will soon be integrated across Instagram, Facebook, and Meta AI, making the improvements widely accessible. Meta has not yet decided whether to release the model’s weights, but strong developer adoption suggests the model is already gaining traction without being fully open. According to Meta, developers are consuming trillions of tokens weekly, reinforcing confidence in the model’s commercial potential.
