Meta rolls out new scam detection tools to Facebook, WhatsApp, and Messenger

Meta is introducing new scam‑detection tools across Facebook, WhatsApp, and Messenger to better protect users from increasingly sophisticated fraud attempts. Facebook will test alerts that warn users about suspicious friend requests, while WhatsApp adds warnings to prevent scammers from linking their devices to a victim’s account through fake prompts or QR codes. Messenger is expanding its advanced scam detection, which uses behavioral patterns to flag risky conversations and can request user permission for an AI scam review. Meta reports removing over 159 million scam ads and nearly 11 million scam‑linked accounts last year.
