iPhone Duo could capture a quarter of the foldable market in 2026
TrendForce reports that the newly announced iPhone Duo is expected to secure nearly 25 percent of the foldable smartphone market in 2026, despite an overall slowdown in the segment. Apple is projected to ship around 5 million units by the end of the year, helping counter a 20 percent decline in foldable shipments among Android manufacturers. Samsung is still predicted to lead the market with over 7 million units shipped, while Huawei is expected to match Apple’s 5 million units. The report highlights Apple’s design trade-offs, such as removing the periscope telephoto camera and opting for a side-mounted Touch ID to reduce thickness. TrendForce notes that these choices reflect ongoing challenges in balancing camera performance, battery capacity, and device size in foldable designs. Looking ahead, the firm suggests that deeper integration of AI and multitasking features could redefine foldables as a new interface for AI-driven applications.
