Googlebook debuts as an AI-first laptop platform with deep Android integration
Google is introducing a new line of laptops called Googlebook, designed to merge ChromeOS, Android, and Gemini AI into a tightly integrated ecosystem. The devices support casting Android apps directly to the desktop, deep file access across Android devices, and a new AI‑powered “Magic Pointer” that turns the mouse cursor into a contextual prompt generator. All Googlebooks will feature a signature “Glowbar” and will be produced by partners like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, with Samsung notably absent for now. Googlebooks are expected to run a new “modern OS” blending Android and ChromeOS, aiming to keep users firmly inside Google’s ecosystem.
