Gemini-Powered Smart Glasses Mark Google’s Big Return to Wearables
At Google I/O 2026, the tech giant officially announced a partnership with Warby Parker, Gentle Monster and Samsung to produce its new Gemini 2.5 Pro powered smart glasses. Operating on the open Android XR platform, the audio frames are scheduled to launch this autumn and are designed to challenge Meta's dominant 82% market share. Google plans to release a standard voice driven model first, with a more advanced monocular microLED Display Edition following later. By outsourcing the design to trendy lifestyle brands, Google hopes to overcome the aesthetic and cultural failures of the original Google Glass.
