Mistral AI has announced a massive expansion into industrial manufacturing along with a new inference data center south of Paris to challenge American rivals like OpenAI. The French startup unveiled Mistral for Industrial Engineering, a specialized stack combining language models with physics simulation capabilities to assist partners like Airbus and BMW. Additionally, the company is renaming its conversational assistant Le Chat to Vibe, transforming it into a unified agent platform for enterprise productivity and coding tasks. Mistral is also shifting its model strategy by consolidating standalone capabilities natively into its flagship Mistral Medium 3.5 and the upcoming Mistral Large 4.
