EU Blocks Siri AI on iPhone and iPad
Apple has announced that its newly rebuilt Siri AI will not be available on iPhones and iPads in the European Union when iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 launch later this year. The company stated that EU regulators rejected its proposed Trusted System Agent security framework and an 18-month rollout plan designed to meet Digital Markets Act interoperability demands. While Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro users in the EU will still receive the upgrade, the restriction on mobile devices stems from concerns that the DMA would force Apple to grant third-party assistants unsafe levels of deep system access. This marks the second major time Apple has delayed its core intelligence features in Europe due to ongoing regulatory clashes with the European Commission.
