Chinese Spy Agencies Exploit LinkedIn to Extract Sensitive Info from Westerners

A joint advisory from the FBI, MI5, and the governments of Australia, Canada, and New Zealand warns that Chinese intelligence operatives are using LinkedIn and similar platforms to pose as recruiters and extract sensitive information from Western professionals. These spies create fake companies and target individuals with security clearances, military backgrounds, or access to valuable political and economic insights. Even unclassified information can be useful when combined with other data to support Beijing’s strategic goals. LinkedIn says it continues to enforce policies against fake accounts and state‑sponsored abuse.
