Apple launches new Mac Mini with M6 chip starting at 899 dollars

Apple has introduced a new Mac Mini powered by the M6 chip, starting at 899 dollars with 256GB storage and 16GB RAM, available for preorder and shipping after September 22. The company claims the M6 delivers four times better AI performance than the M4, with doubled storage and graphics speeds, thanks to a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU. Apple also launched a higher-end Mac Mini featuring the M5 Pro chip, starting at 1699 dollars, offering more storage, more RAM, and upgradable CPU and GPU configurations. Both models include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and optional 10GB Ethernet. The Mac Mini has become popular among AI enthusiasts for running local AI agents, leading to inflated resale prices earlier this year. Apple additionally unveiled new Mac Studio models powered by the M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips, aimed at heavy AI and graphics workloads, starting at 2499 and 5499 dollars. The company discontinued its previous 599-dollar base Mac Mini earlier this year, shifting the lineup toward more powerful and AI-focused machines.
