Apple and Intel Reach Preliminary Agreement on Chip Production Partnership
Apple has reached a preliminary agreement with Intel to produce some of the chips used in its devices, following more than a year of intensive negotiations. The deal marks a significant return to partnership between the two companies, which had a very close relationship before Apple transitioned to its own Apple Silicon chips starting in 2020. The move is reportedly supported at the highest level, including personal advocacy from President Trump and involvement from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. The scale of the agreement remains unknown for now.
