Apple’s App Store saw 235,800 new apps in the first quarter of 2026, an 84 percent increase year‑over‑year, driven largely by the rise of “vibe coding,” where AI tools generate apps for non‑developers. The trend accelerated after the release of Claude Code and OpenAI’s Codex, enabling anyone to build apps using natural language. However, many of these AI‑generated apps suffer from quality issues, creating demand for “vibe coding cleanup specialists.” Apple has also begun cracking down on top vibe‑coding platforms like Replit and Vibecode for bypassing App Store rules, even as it integrates its own AI‑powered coding features into Xcode.
