Google is rolling out a new Android feature that detects AI‑generated fake voices during phone calls — the first real‑time, cryptographic defense against voice‑cloning scams built directly into a mobile OS. When someone in your contacts calls you, their device sends an encrypted verification signal using RCS. If a scammer spoofs the number or uses an AI‑cloned voice, the signal is missing, and your phone instantly checks with the real device. If the contact isn’t actually calling, Android warns you before the scammer can speak. The feature works automatically, requires no user action, and launches globally this month on Pixel devices running Android 12+, with broader rollout to follow.
