AMD captures one-third of server CPU market as AI demand accelerates
According to Mercury Research, AMD has reached a 33.2 percent share of the x86 server CPU market in Q1 2026, marking a significant gain amid strong AI datacenter demand. Overall x86 shipments declined, but server CPUs grew by 10 percent year-over-year, with AMD also expanding in mobile processors to 28.3 percent market share. Meanwhile, Arm-based server chips doubled shipments compared to last year, driven largely by Nvidia’s Grace CPU in Blackwell platforms. The data highlights shifting momentum in the processor market as AI workloads reshape demand.
