Amazon working on new smartphone with Alexa at its core, report says
Amazon is reportedly developing a new smartphone, codenamed “Transformer,” more than a decade after the failure of the Fire Phone. The device is being built by Amazon’s ZeroOne unit, led by former Microsoft executive J Allard, and will deeply integrate Alexa and AI‑powered features to push customers toward Amazon’s expanding AI ecosystem. The phone is expected to offer personalized experiences across Amazon’s apps and leverage the company’s major investments in AI, including its revamped Alexa+ assistant. While Amazon declined to comment, the project signals a renewed push into mobile hardware as part of its broader $200 billion AI and robotics strategy for 2026.
