AI frame generation is coming to the PS5 Pro
Sony has confirmed that AI‑powered frame generation is in development for future PlayStation platforms, with the PS5 Pro being the most likely candidate to receive the feature first. In an interview with Digital Foundry, system architect Mark Cerny said machine‑learning‑based frame generation will eventually arrive on PlayStation, building on the PS5 Pro’s existing AI upscaling tech, PSSR. The feature could significantly boost perceived frame rates by generating intermediate frames, though it may introduce some input latency. While no release window is set, Cerny suggested the technology may not arrive until 2027 or later, potentially debuting fully on next‑gen hardware like the PlayStation 6.
